Course format:
Varied content, ranging from a general discussion on where cross-country coaching stands in NZ today and how it is currently taught/coached, to sessions on the GNZ Coaching Manual including the sports psychology of students & coaches, to more specific cross-country coaching techniques.
The general aim is to reach a common view of where we are at and what a “lead coaching initiative” will contribute to the pursuit of excellence in cross-country soaring in NZ.
Who should attend? (Limited to 10/12 at each venue) – Experienced cross-country pilots with a desire to share that experience with budding cross-country pilots (who will be at the minimum stage where they can climb a glider and land-out safely). Previous instructing experience useful, but not essential.
The Springfield venue will be the Canterbury Club’s new “classroom”. The Omarama venue will be the “Air New Zealand Room” at the Countrytime (to be confirmed)
